Initally, players can only access the story missions in order. Clearing these missions allows the player to progress through the story, and unlock more content related to story progress. Upon completing the Act 1 of a chapter, the player is given a choice to return to Clad 6, or to continue into Act 2. Returning to Clad 6 will allow the player to restock or take other missions, and can access Act 2 from the mission counter at any point onwards until Act 2 is completed; Continuing into Act 2 will move the player into Act 2, while retaining the current character condition, including HP and Blast Gauge. They will also keep any effect accumlated on their weapon, such as [[Rengokuto Ensa]].

Story Missions encompasses the story of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. The story is divided into 2 parts: Episode 1, and Episode 2, which the player can choose from upon entering Story Mode.

Note that the player cannot access Episode 2 story missions or side stories missions from Episode 1, and vice versa (Even after clearing both episodes).

Story Mission Dialogue Choices

Episode 1

Your ending after Chapter 10 Act 3 depends on your amount of 'story points' (invisible); this increases/decreases every time you select a good/bad dialogue option in the story missions (even if you've already done the mission before or if you select abandon mission), and increases each time you clear a story mission. How well you do at story missions (both mission ranks and failures) will affect your point gained as well. It's possible to get all endings on a single character. The good dialogue options are as follows. Note that it is possible to skip straight to the next dialogue option by holding the start button.

Chapter 1 - Act 1

  • Upper option: Talk to the girl. (少女に声をかける)
  • Bottom option: The nerve! (たしかにひどい)
  • Upper option: You some kind of expert or something? (詳しいね)
  • Upper option: Actually, I do believe you. (信じる)
  • Upper option: We can handle this. (大丈夫)

Chapter 2 - Act 1

  • Bottom option: Leave it to me. (任せて)
  • Upper option: Let's just finish this mission. (依頼を成功させよう)
  • Upper option: Sounds good. (わかった)
  • Upper option: Not a word. (全然わからない)
  • Bottom option: I'm more worried about the village. (村が気になる)

  • Bottom option: Help Emilia (を助け起こす)

Chapter 3 - Act 1
