Challenge Missions are special missions accessible from Multi Mode. The objective of the challenge missions is to clear the mission within an alloted time, using characters with a fixed starting level and fixed equipments.
: Difficult missions with equipment, level and other restrictions. You cannot keep items found on these missions.
Challenge missions are special co-operative missions where players must reach the end of a series of levels without becoming incapacitated without a Scape Doll. In challenge missions, all players are given preset levels, equipment, and photon arts, depending on their chosen Type at the class counter or mission terminal. Any experience or items gained in challenge missions are not transferred out to the main game.

Initially, only the starting stage of each set is available to play, but clearing a stage will unlock access to the next one. All players in the party must have the stage unlocked to be able to play it - otherwise previous levels that players may have already completed may have to be replayed.

Challenge missions feature unique rewards which cannot be obtained anywhere else.
Challenge Mission Rules
Overview
* Each character has a fixed level, type level, extend type, PA discs, and starting equipment.
** The extend type, PA discs, and starting equipment are based on the Type of the character, which can be changed from the mission counter before entering into the mission area.
* Characters does not have type abilities.
* All players start with a Scape Doll in the inventory.
* The mission will fail if any player dies without a Scape Doll.
* Items can be passed around by dropping them on the ground.
** It's also possible to return equipped PAs to disc and then drop them on the ground to pass to other players.
* Completing a mission awards Challenge Points, these will level up your Challenge Rank.
* Completing a mission within the alloted time will reward each players with items.
** Completing a mission after running out of time will still award Challenge Points and unlock the next stage (if there is any), but will not award any items.
* Humans, Newmans, and Casts do not necessarily start with blast modules, and Beasts do not necessarily start with a blast badge equipped. A Deuman will always be able to use Infinity Blast since the only requirement is the character being Lv10.
** However, since the Type Levels are fixed, Deuman does not necessarily have additional abilities, such as Drain Lv5, attached to the Infinity Blast.

All players in a challenge mission start with preset levels and equipment - earned levels and equipment from outside the missions cannot be brought in. The equipment provided depends on the Type chosen for the mission, with all equipment provided suited for the chosen Type.

Type abilities and blast modules are usually not provided, and beasts do not always start with a blast badge for their nanoblasts. Deumans, however, are able to use their infinity blasts in any stage where the player's character level is at least level 10.
El Curare (Force)

All players start with a Scape Doll in their inventory, and being incapacitated without one will fail the mission for the entire party. If a player takes damage without a Scape Doll in their inventory, beeps will be broadcasted to all players to inform them someone does not have a Scape Doll.

Unlike the regular game, all items may be dropped on the ground through the inventory to pass to other players. Creature drops are still individual, so it is important for players to share items they receive with the party, as the starting equipment may not be sufficient to clear the stage.

Clear rewards
|Stage 4: Golden Roar
Each stage has a target time allocated to it - if the party is able to complete the stage within the target time, they will receive an item reward for the main game depending on the stage that was cleared. If the party fails to finish within the allotted time, they will still unlock the next stage and receive challenge points, but will not receive the stage's item rewards.

Each challenge set (except the Little Wing Grand Prix) also feature their own clear rewards for clearing all stages within a target time. These rewards are awarded on a per character and a per Type basis, meaning that a character may earn the full clear reward up to 5 times, by clearing within the target time on every single Type.

To access the further missions, all party members must have completed all challenge missions in the set prior to that mission. Completion only requires clearing the mission, and does not require clearing the mission within the alloted time.

Players are able to see the times they took to complete each individual stage in a mission set, as well as the total time it took to complete that set. Times are recorded per character.

Challenge II
Note that the times are separated by Type: times achieved as a Ranger and times achieved as a Force are placed separately, and totalled up separately. It's possible for a player to not have a total time displayed on their Partner Card or My Room records after they had cleared all stages in a set, if they do not have a Type that has times on every stage (If they changed Types midway, for example).
